UNDIP and BRIN Researchers Test Hydrogen Bus, Innovation of Polines Lecturers

SEMARANG – The hydrogen-based bus innovation (Hydrogen Electric Vehicle/H2EV) developed by Semarang State Polytechnic (Polines) has attracted the attention of the Diponegoro University (UNDIP) Electrochemistry Research Collaboration Center (PKR) and the Electronics Research Center of the National Research and Innovation Agency (BRIN).

The visit, which took place at the POLINES Directorate Building on Thursday (11/5/2026), was welcomed by the Director of POLINES, Dr. Garup Lambang Goro, S.T., M.T., accompanied by the Vice Director for Academic Affairs, Prof. Dr. Ir. Dwiana Hendrawati, S.T., M.T.

“We warmly welcome this visit. The hydrogen bus innovation is a contribution from vocational higher education. We hope this meeting will open up opportunities for research collaboration,” he stated.

The hydrogen bus was developed by Prof. Ir. Yusuf Dewantoro Herlambang, S.T., M.T., Ph.D., IPM., ASEAN Eng., a lecturer in the Department of Mechanical Engineering at POLINES as well as the Head Inventor/Technology Researcher.

The delegation, led by the Head of the UNDIP Electrochemistry Research Center, Ir. Marcelinus Christwardana, S.T., M.T., Ph.D., IPM., ASEAN Eng., together with Athanasia Amanda Septevani, Ph.D., from the BRIN Electronics Research Center, received a presentation on hydrogen bus technology.

Ir. Marcelinus Christwardana, S.T., M.T., Ph.D., IPM., ASEAN Eng., considered that the innovation has the potential for continuous development.

“We see the development of the POLINES hydrogen bus as an interesting innovation. This visit serves as an opportunity to directly observe the research results while exploring collaboration opportunities in the fields of electrochemistry and hydrogen energy,” he expressed.

The series of visits concluded with an opportunity for the delegation to test-ride the Polines hydrogen bus. Through this activity, it is hoped that research collaboration opportunities in the development of hydrogen technology and eco-friendly transportation will be established.
